Law and Culture (2015)

The fourth edition of Jewish Culture Days Adloyada focused on the issue of correlation of legal and cultural space. During the festival, the organizers decided to commemorate Hannah Arendt (an outstanding intellectual, whose output caused several debates vital for European culture of the 20th century) on the 40th anniversary of her death. There was held, among others, a discussion on individual and collective responsibility and a debate on biographies.

The program included also discussions on understanding the law in various fields of culture. Philosophers discussed, among others, the status of legal hermeneutics, the influence of contemporary intellectual currents on legal doctrines, the relations between religious and secular law, the influence of mass culture on legal imagination. There was also held a debate entitled Open University with the participation of academic teachers, an editor of a social and cultural periodical, a clergyman, a cultural institution director and a politician. The events of Jewish Culture Days Adloyada were participated by representatives of various scientific fields and specialities from several Polish and foreign academic centres.
